Manchester Airport Gains UK Accolade
Accolade of airport of the year goes to Manchester
Manchester Airport has won the accolade of UK airport of the year, offering customers even more incentive to utilise the airport for both domestic and international flights. Named the Best Major UK Airport at the London hosted British Travel Awards, other airports will now look to Manchester to see how they can improve.
The British Travel Awards are largely seen as the Oscars of the travel industry, having great influence on both aviation officials and consumers. Vote numbers increased by three times on last year with over 70,000 votes being noted, and around 1,000 aviation officials attended the awards, which were held in Battersea Park, London.
Manchester Airport held off competition such as Heathrow and Gatwick, being praised for having high quality restaurants and shops, high levels of customer service and satisfaction, and utilising innovative security technology.
Speaking of the awards Lorraine Barnes Burton, chief executive of the British Travel Awards, said "From relatively small beginnings the British Travel Awards has gone from strength to strength and now in its sixth year the British public has cast an incredible number of votes for their favourite travel companies." With such a notable achievement, Manchester is set to be more popular with businesses and travellers than ever before.
