Destinations for Easter 2012
Ibiza and Mallorca are main destinations of choice for a peaceful holiday
Easter in 2012 falls in early April and there are plenty of flights available to some of Europe's best-loved holiday destinations. Early sun in the region is ideal for those who prefer to avoid the intense heat of the summer months. There is also the advantage that the region is not too crowded, as it is still very early in the holiday season, and there are plenty of pleasant resorts that are peaceful and welcoming.
Alternatively Gallic culture could be the way to go. The Atlantic coast of France will be enjoying fine temperatures and plenty of sunshine at Easter. The island of Corsica is part of France and has a variety of accommodation options. Mainland cities, such as Marseille and Lyon, are ideal for short breaks over the Easter weekend.
A little further away are the Greek Islands. Corfu is popular with visitors for much of the year and has both the touristy resorts and smaller destinations that are ideal for those who want a little more tranquillity. Other islands that are popular destinations in the early part of the holiday season are Crete and Paxos.
Last but not least, Italy should be high on anyone's list of favoured destinations. Umbria is one of those areas that is ideal for escaping the crowds but still has plenty to offer those who want some lively nightlife.
