New UK-Vietnam Flights
Direct flights between the UK and Vietnam
Vietnam Airlines has just announced that it will be running direct flights between Vietnam and the UK from 8th December. The flights will operate between Gatwick Airport in London and the airports in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The current plans are to operate four flights a week, which will be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. By 2015 there are plans to increase this figure to seven direct flights each week.
Many flights that currently take place between the two countries involve a transit stop, which can add seven hours to the flight time, so the average journey takes around 19 hours. These direct flights will reduce that to 12 hours, making the prospect of travelling to Vietnam much more attractive for those who want to travel to the country for business or leisure.
The airline also runs additional direct routes to other European destinations, so there will now be eight direct flights each week to and from Europe on its Boeing 777 aircraft. The airline is working on its competitiveness in the marketplace and direct flights like this give it an edge over some of the other airlines and the opportunity to become a major airline in the east.
