Vancouver and Reykjavik looking like popular choices after BBC's frozen planet documentary

After the BBC's Frozen Planet revealed some of the world's most intriguing and beautiful places, it has been reported that the number of British individuals looking for Arctic and Antarctic adventures has soared. With many cruises offering the ideal icy retreat, and places such as Iceland's Reykjavik and Canada's Vancouver providing the chance to spot wildlife, exploring the frozen planet is not as inaccessible as first thought.

Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, Frozen Planet has been a huge hit with millions of viewers wanting to be transported to the icy scenery of the Arctic and Antarctic. Whilst cruises to such destinations are accessible, they can be very costly. However, British individuals can head to more accessible areas for sightseeing and viewing of iconic creatures.

Iceland often sees Orca whales spending time near its shores, and for those wanting to travel the country, Reykjavik can be the ideal base for wildlife spotting. Likewise, Vancouver is a great location in search of killer whales, and grizzly bears can also be spotted. Heading to Churchill will also give the chance to indulge in polar bears.

Penguins, some of the world's most loved creatures, can also be found in unusual places and both Chile and Ecuador host colonies which people can explore. After making such a hit on the TV screens, Frozen Planet has promoted remote holiday destinations like never before.
