ABTA's Top Travel Hotspots Revealed
The Association of British Travel Agents reveal 2012 hotspots
With 2011 coming to a close, 2012 is set to unveil a number of new travel destinations for those keen to see the world. The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has now released its latest list of high interest destinations, with a number of surprising locations set for success.
Hosting the Euro football tournament during 2012, Ukraine and its cities, including Kiev and Donetsk, are expected to see tourist demand as fans flock to the nation. Poland, a co-host of the football championships, is also expected to note a rise in fame.
For holiday destinations, Colombia's Bogota, Cape Verde and even Jordan are set to be increasingly popular for tourists wanting somewhere new and refreshing to explore on their travels. Meanwhile, with the economic crisis still pressurising many countries and people's income, traditional hotspots, including Italy, Spain and France, will see large numbers of travellers.
Mark Tanzer, chief executive at ABTA, said "The squeeze on household spending looks set to continue and this is likely to see holidaymakers become more discerning about where they spend their money and what they get for it," intimating that cheaper nations will do particularly well.
