Head to Stockholm for beauty, culture and movie intrigue
Stockholm is beautiful no matter the weather
Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, is seeing renewed holiday interest after the Hollywood film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo hit cinemas. With the Millennium Series based in the beautiful Swedish city, and the resulting Swedish language and Hollywood movies finding huge popular appeal, there has been a 100% year-on-year rise for holiday searches. However, Stockholm offers far more than the simple chance to indulge in a movie setting.
Stockholm is one of the world's most beautiful cities, whatever the time of year. In winter the terracotta and saffron coloured buildings are covered in white snow and dotted with festive lights, whilst in the summer the glistening blue water and sky seems to intermingle.
In the old town visitors will find ice cream parlours and souvenir shops amongst the maze of cobblestone streets. Södermalm, meanwhile, is the place of beautiful old residences located on the waterfront, art galleries, arty shops and a vibrant nightlife. Stockholm's main city centre is also thriving, chic and edgy, offering all of the modern nuances that many holidaymakers look for on a city break.
With Stockholm being highlighted due to its movie inspiration, the city is set to see rising demand from tourists. For those wanting a modern city break amongst a cultural city, Stockholm is the perfect spot.
