Cimber Air News & Information
Summer programme offers increased flights to European 'sunshine destinations,' including Billund-Crete route.Cimber Sterling has announced the launch of a new summer route, between Billund, in Denmark and Crete, as part of its expanded seasonal programme. The airline also offers special deals on fares in its annual summer sale.
Cimber Sterling, formerly known as Cimber Air, is a Danish-based airline with offices at five airports across the country. It operates more than 1,000 flights per week for some 2.4 million leisure and business passengers annually.
Billund, in South Denmark, is home to the famous Legoland, in fact the city airport was originally built by the Lego group. For the Danes, Crete is already a popular holiday destination and it will be more easily accessible to tourists from around Denmark as a result of the expansion in routes.
In addition to Greece's largest island being steeped in history, it is also renowned for its rugged natural beauty, characterised by dazzling mountain ranges, dramatic gorges and coastal caves. Cretan locals are generally very hospitable and proudly maintain their island customs, particularly their music and cuisine; Cretan food is said to have life-prolonging qualities.
The summer programme of flights offered by Cimber includes more weekly departures across Europe, connecting the airline's home city of Copenhagen to Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Nice, Montpellier, Sicily and Antalya. High season also sees regular departures to Florence, Venice and Thessaloniki, along with twice a day flights to Rome. In addition to the new route to Crete, Billund will also benefit from increased departures to Palma de Mallorca.
