Aer Arann offers discounts to Wexford Festival Opera goers and easy travel optionsA partnership between Aer Arann, Waterford Airport and the Wexford Festival Opera means that fans of the opera will have even more to look forward to at the annual Opera Festival. The Wexford Festival Opera usually held in October and November in the south east of the Republic of Ireland have linked up with Aer Arann and Waterford airport to organise discounts and complementary onward travel from the airport to the venue.
In what is hoped to be a mutually beneficial scheme Aer Arann are involved in a scheme whereby travellers to the Wexford Festival Opera will be able to avail themselves of a discount when booking flights from the United Kingdom to Waterford Airport. Waterford Airport is the most convenient airport for the festival and there will also be complementary bus travel for festival goers from the airport when making use of this three way tie up.
The Festival itself has been a cultural fixture in the town of Wexford since 1951 when under the direction of Tom Walsh the first festival which was at the time named ‘A Festival of Music and the Arts’ took place in the town’s Theatre Royal. The venue remained as the home of the festival until 2005. From 2008 a new Opera House was built on the site of the original Theatre Royal and this has become the home of the festival ever since.
The partnership between the Festival, the airport and the Airline make for the perfect travel solution for this fantastic cultural event.
