Air Europa Guide

Founded in 1986 as a part of the British ILG-Air Europa Group, the airline was launched as the means to provide flight services to tourists who had booked holidays through the parent company. Over time, the airline expanded its operations to include scheduled flights that not only provided charter services for tour packages, but also regular flights into a number of airports in North and South America as well as many parts of Europe. Since 2007, Air Europa has been an active member of the SkyTeam Alliance, a consortium that includes some of the best known airlines in the world.

Air Europa History & Information

Air Europa maintains its headquarters at the Palma de Mallorca Airport, along with a hub at Barajas Airport in Madrid. Focus cities include Barcelona and Tenerife. All three cities, as well as the airport in Palma de Mallorca, are served by daily flights operated by the airline.

Air Europa Routes

Three nations in Africa are served by flights operated by Air Europa. The Menara International Airport in Marrakech provides travellers with easy access to Morocco. In Senegal, the airline provides flight services to and from the Leopold Seda Senghor International Airport in Dakar. The Carthage Airport in Tunis, Tunisia is the third destination served by Air Europa, with a number of direct connections available from various cities around Europe.

Flights to and from North America provide service to several key cities. The Cancun International Airport in Cancun is among those cities, providing travellers with the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of Mexico. Air Europa also has a presence in Cuba, with flights to and from the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.

The Dominican Republic is also served by Air Europa, with flights to and from two key cities. The airline offers services to the Los Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, as well as the Punta Cana International Airport. There are also two flights that provide travellers with access to the United States. Air Europa operates regular flights to the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, and the Miami International Airport in Miami, Florida.

Air Europa's flight offerings are mainly aimed at providing quality travel to some of the most well known destinations in Europe. A number of domestic flights allow easy travel throughout Spain. All in all, a total of twenty airports enjoy the presence of Air Europa. These include the hub at the Barajas Airport in Madrid, the Valencia Airport, the El Prat Airport in Barcelona, and the San Pablo Airport in Seville.

Several popular destinations outside Spain are also available to Air Europa passengers. The airline offers regular flights to both the Charles de Gaulle Airport and the Orly Airport in Paris. The Athens International Airport also enjoys regular flights, making Air Europa an obvious choice for anyone wishing to spend a holiday in Greece. Three cities in Italy also receive Air Europa flights: Venice, Milan, and Rome. Portugal is also a destination for travellers using Air Europa as their airline of choice, with flights to and from the Lisbon Portela Airport in Lisbon available all year long.

The Air Europa Fleet

In order to provide quality service to passengers, Air Europa utilises some of the most popular aircraft in the world today. The Airbus A330-200, the Boeing 767-300ER, and the Boeing 787-8 make up a portion of the fleet. Four Embraer E-195 aircraft are also part of the lineup. However, the majority of the Air Europa fleet is composed of the Boeing 737-800; the airline operates a total of twenty-seven of these aircraft, with orders for an additional thirty-three pending. Along with the pending orders for more Boeing 737 craft, Air Europa also has orders for additional Airbus A330 craft, Embraer E-195 craft,and Boeing 767 aircraft.

Additional Information

Air Europa's frequent flyer program, Flying Blue, offers many of the benefits found with similar plans. Thanks to the airlines association with SkyTeam, travellers can earn points for both air travel and other forms of travel arrangements. The program provides the opportunity to cash in points for flight reservations, as well as provide passengers with amenities like access to VIP lounges, free newspapers, and other benefits at selected airports.
