Nice is a destination that is perfect for virtually any type of holidaymaker; from those who enjoy lazing on the beach to those with an appreciation of arts and culture, there is something for everyone in this breathtakingly beautiful city. If there is a history buff in your group, Nice has a long, rich past and many historical attractions, and for the food connoisseur Nice has unforgettable restaurants.
The French Mediterranean is beautiful with its warm waters and superb climate. For a less crowded experience May and June see fewer tourists visiting the city, while in July and August the streets are packed both day and night.
One of the main attractions in Nice is the ancient city ruins of Cemenelum. These ruins are located in the northern neighbourhood of Cimiez, and offer visitors the chance to explore public baths and an amphitheatre that date back to the ancient Roman Empire. The area is also home to the beautiful Musee d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain. These four towers are joined by glass walkways and house some of the country’s most spectacular art pieces.
Also located in the Cimiez section of the city is the annual Nice Jazz Festival, which is held every summer. The Nice Jazz Festival attracts over 45,000 people during the course of eight nights of performances. The festival is comprised of 500 musicians and 75 different shows. The entire event is centred in the beautiful Arenes de Cimiez, which is the 2,000-year-old amphitheatre in Cimiez. This festival has been held since 1948.
